Living Water

I recently stumbled upon a website by a preacher who promised untold riches of money, job promotions, and happiness.

Was this just another false preacher twisting Scripture to say God intends for us to be rich all the days of our lives?

This was much worse.

He was talking about “magic water” he was selling in a pouch that contained “miracles” from God.

His ministry promised that by drinking this magic water from “special springs,” every wish of the consumer would come true.

Here are some exact quotes from people featured on his site:

“I drank the miracle spring water and I received a check for $30,000 in the mail the next day.”

“After drinking your miracle spring water, I met the love of my life and now I’m getting married.”

“Because I drank the spring water, I was offered a new job and then received a check from my employer from over $100,000…I was able to pay off my house…I’m a true believer!”

Anyone not born yesterday can see the obvious scam, but why do his followers not see it?

The further we allow ourselves to be deceived, the harder it is to see the truth.

Once we buy into the lie that God owes us free stuff, we become prey for false preachers who will take advantage of our pride (and our wallet) to make themselves wealthy.

What angers me the most is not how many people are in the preacher’s video, but all the people I didn’t see who are now angry with God or feel they’re being punished because a check in the mail never came.

This is exactly why this type of false gospel is so dangerous.

And the truth is, sadly, people that are willing to shell out their hard-earned paychecks in search of lasting fulfillment, are a dime a dozen.

This is because, in each of us there is a bottomless well that aches to be filled.

Not with counterfeit “magic” water that indulges our greedy flesh, but the never-ending living water of God’s Holy Spirit.

Many times in my life I have been guilty of trying to fill up with things that take and take, leaving me empty and always wanting more.

Going through this preacher’s website was a reminder for me to only seek God’s living water and not fall prey to empty promises.

What about you?

If you’re searching for something to fill that unexplainable void you carry around inside, ask God to reveal Himself to you.

If you are truly searching, He will show up. I guarantee it.

No gimmicks. No parlor tricks. No scam. No magic pouches.

The Jesus of the Bible is real. His Holy Spirit is real. His presence is real.

The water this world offers will always leave you empty and thirsty, but the living water Jesus offers you today, will never run dry.

13 “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the living water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” ~Jesus, John 4:13-14

If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to comment or send me a private email so I can pray for you.

We are in this together.

I can’t offer you magic water or riches, but I can introduce you to Jesus.
