We’ve reached a time where hashtag trends, opinions, and bumper sticker talking points often rule our hearts and minds instead of our Creator.
All of those opinions and trends inevitably cause division-which is now bleeding into the Body of Christ at a rapid pace.
Every other day I see another fellow believer move from writing posts anchored in the Word of God, to hashtag rants anchored in pride, bitterness, political ideologies, and lies from the enemy.
Anything that clouds our ability to discern God’s wisdom and sovereignty over our life is a stronghold.
The only solution is repenting, prayer, and holding every thought captive to His Spirit and Truth.
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” ~Jesus (John 4:24)
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ~2 Corinthians 10:3-5
This section is Corinthians isn’t only speaking of pushing back the darkness in this world, but the battle we fight within our own mind against the deception of the enemy.
It’s unpopular to live a life set apart. It always has been and always will be.
To write and speak out against the grain of society in order to help other believers grow is really tough. Believe me, I know.
Hurtful comments, unfollows, and accusations can’t always be avoided. Spiritual warfare is part of ministry.
However, I want to encourage you to keeping chasing God and what He has called you to do.
I promise, if you stop trying to make God fit into your strongholds and, instead, surrender your strongholds to God, He will redeem your mind and ministry for His glory.
If you do not, the enemy will continue to steal spiritual ground from your ministry because he knows your redeemed mind is constantly at war with your sin nature and uses this to his advantage.
Let’s just say the enemy of our soul is a punk.
What has grieved me more and more over the past months is watching once bold voices for God allow strongholds to morph their view of Scripture.
If you have a platform of any kind, you have a responsibility to speak the truth in love and not give in to seeking the praises of the masses just because God’s stance isn’t popular.
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. ~Galatians 1:10
I also pray that none of us give in to the temptation to cause further division-even when we disagree on the smaller denominational issues.
17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. ~Romans 16:17-18
I want to be clear:
The purpose of this post is not to condemn anyone, but to wake up those individuals who are allowing their mind to be guided by something other than The Most High God and His Holy Spirit.
I’ve spent many months in prayer about writing this.
I want nothing other then to speak life over you and pray God’s anointing over your blog, platform, and ministry.
I want to see the Body unified under Christ in the midst of so much division and deception.
I pray we all make sure the compass that guides our writing and ministry is always firmly grounded in God’s Word and His Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Praying for us both,
Your co-worker in Christ
