When my husband and I first saw our house it was in complete disarray.
The hardwood floors were dirty and dull, the windows were filled with cobwebs and dead bugs, and the kitchen had appliances from the early 1990’s.
The light fixtures were a hideous brassy gold of the 80’s, there was old pet hair EVERYWHERE (It was seriously the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen), and the yard was an overgrown, weedy, yellow jacket infested mess.
But we could see possibilities.
This house that so many others had rejected because of it’s flaws, could be our dream house… if we put in the work of restoring what had been neglected for so many years.
After a lot of elbow grease, great advice from an amazing neighbor, and agonizing over paint color choices, it’s finally starting to look the way we always hoped it would. One room at a time, we are giving our home some much needed love and care, restoring character, and repairing the broken.
It’s truly amazing what people will discard because they can’t see the potential in something.
How thankful I am that God doesn’t overlook any of us, regardless of our flaws or neglected fragments of our lives we hide behind the walls of our heart.
8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~Romans 5:8
Christ doesn’t reject or overlook us, He pursues us with His love.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. ~John 3:16-17
If you have never known the type of unconditional love Jesus offers, consider asking Him into your life. No fancy words or perfection required. Only humility and a willing heart to fully surrender your life to Jesus.
I promise you, it will be the best decision you’ll ever make.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30
Take rest in Jesus.
