The Stirring of God

paint-drop

Deep down in my heart and in the deepest parts of my mind, I feel God stirring today.

As the rain drops steadily drip outside of the window next to me, I can’t shake the feeling that Holy Spirit is doing something new in my life.

It’s like holding a cup of water while God adds different colors of paint.  As He begins to stir the colors together, I wait anxiously to see what beautiful new color is created.  By the end, what He’s asking me to do is clear.

Sometimes it’s a small, ordinary task of speaking life into another person’s circumstance.

Sometimes it’s a big, overwhelming change that could only occur if God steps in and makes a way.

19See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. ~Isaiah 43:19

Yes! That’s it! But what should I do in all of the unknown, in-between moments of waiting that seem to drag on for eternity?

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29:11

I need to trust in His goodness and that He has a plan for my life.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. ~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Pray continually.

11I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. ~Psalm 119:11

I am to hideaway Scriptures in my heart.

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. ~Romans 8:26-27

25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. ~Galatians 5:25

And, continue to seek Holy Spirit’s guidance in everything I do.

Only God knows what the future holds.  Maybe today will be the day when He reveals a glimpse into His plans for my life.

Where is God stirring in your life?

  1. Love the colors analogy!! Actually reminded me of mixing too many colors and getting brown. But even that is beautiful: the color of dirt out of which many good things grow. The main thing is that He adds the colors and He blends them.
